1st: £2,500 plus the British Open Challenge Trophy.
2nd: £2,000 plus the Frank Parker Memorial Cup.
3rd: £1,500 plus the Harry Mortimer Trophy.
4th: £1,000 plus the Edrich Siebert Memorial Trophy.
5th: £500
6th: £400

The prize money was donated by Yorkshire Bank.

The Iles Medal was awarded to Norman Ashcroft.

The winning conductor, Roy Newsome was awarded the Mortimer Maestro Trophy.

The Best Soloist, Billy Miller, euphonium, Grimethorpe Colliery, won the Stanley Wainwright Memorial Trophy plus £100.

Stalybridge Jones & Brother, British Aerospace Wingates and Ever Ready were relegated.

April 22 • Prospect Brass (Skelmanthorpe) under MD Phil Garlick are currently looking for a front row cornet player to join the team. We are a hard working 1st section band based between Huddersfield & Wakefield and rehearse mon/Fri 7-9pm in our very own bandroom.


Frampton on Severn Silver Band

April 22 • We are a friendly non-contesting band in Gloucestershire looking for players, particularly cornets, baritone and basses, but all are welcome. We play at many local events and bandstand jobs, and practice on Tuesday evenings just off Junction 13 of the M5.
