4BRDU - The friendly faces

We're coming to the Nationals and looking forward to catching up with everyone!

4BRDU will be based in the Adelaide Street Foyer of City Hall. We can't wait to meet you all and put even more faces to names. Come and say g'day, grab a free sticker for your case, fill in our mailing list, and check our funky goodies.

Chris Bowman

Chris Bowman will be well known to many of you, having played with several A Grade bands. He was an inaugural member of the Victorian State Youth Band and Australian Brass. He is an accomplished Soprano, Cornet and Flugel player and was recently appointed Musical Director of Campbelltown City Band, South Australia.

As well as being one of the editors of 4BRDU, Chris looks after all of the really fun bits of the business – the paperwork, money and other exciting administrative stuff!

Chris can't wait to hear all the A and B Grade Bands (yes, he'll be sitting through them all and bringing a cushion!), but mostly he eagerly awaits the Saturday night celebrations.

Veronica Bowman

Veronica Bowman, yes married to Chris, is known to many of you for being married to Chris! But, she has managed to be her own person from time to time.

Veronica is an active bandsperson, both player and conductor. She has been playing in bands for 30 years, including the inaugural Australian Brass and some of the country's top A Grade bands. She currently plays baritone with Tanunda Town Band and Campbelltown City Band, and is the Musical Director of Marion City Band and Warriparinga Brass.

Veronica's qualifications include studies at the Adelaide University: Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts (English) and a Graduate Diploma in Education, and in 2004 she completed an Associate Diploma with the Trinity College of London.

As well as being an editor for 4BRDU, Veronica is in control of stock and liaises with international publishers, is the creative editor of Kangaroo Music publications, and definitely avoids all boring paperwork and administrative stuff. She also somehow finds time for instrumental teaching and adjudicating eisteddfods.

Veronica is looking forward to listening to the great bands, lots of socialising and catching up with old friends – and yes, Saturday night!

James Bowman

James Bowman, yes is the son of above, and is coming along to the Nationals to play in the Open and Junior Trombone sections, but of course he will be making himself very useful and helping out with the 4BRDU trade table in the Adelaide Street Foyer.

James is a pretty handy little muso. He is a student at Marryatville High School in Adelaide and the First Trombone for their legendary Big Band One (current National Champions). He toured New York and Los Angeles in January with the band and James Morrison. He is the current Australian Junior Trombone and Junior Euphonium Champion – so will be defending one of his titles.

James will present you with a happy, smiling face and be courteous and polite. If he doesn't, please dob on him to Mum and Dad (above)!

Jess Rodda

Jess Rodda is coming along to the Nationals to play in the Junior EEb Bass and the Junior Tuba Bass Clef sections. She hails from Mildura, but has been living in Adelaide this year because she's a music student at the Elder Conservatorium. Whilst in Adelaide Jess has been playing with Campbelltown City Band.

Jess has kindly agreed to help out 4BRDU with the trade table and is looking forward to meeting lots of new bandies.
