Hamilton Auxiliary Brass Musical Director: Vicki Henderson
Hamilton Auxiliary Brass have started the year off with our new conductor, Vicki Henderson. The younger ones of the band have responded well to the new face in front, with a new found enjoyment to playing in a brass band. They recently performed at the Matamata Music Festival and proudly received a silver award for their efforts.
For some of the members in the band, this will be their first national contest, and are looking forward to seeing all of their hard work pay off. The youngest playing member of the band is nine years old, with a couple of the more experienced players throughout to help out where needed. The band has been practising immensely with increased rehearsal time and will be in great form to participate in what will be a great and exciting experience for all.
Past Nationals Record: 2006 - 2005 - 2004 -
Kumeu Brass Musical Director: Petter Logger
Based in West Auckland, Kumeu Brass have been unable to compete in the Nationals since 2003 when they came third in D Grade.
MD Petter Logger recently immigrated from Holland. are a D Grade Band based in West Auckland with a wide range of age and experience.
Peter has been with the band for 1 year and you may notice some influence from his background in the pieces selected for this contest! Kumeu have been rehearsing hard in preparation for this years' contest as they have been unable to compete in the Nationals for a few years.
With additional rehearsals and a good "warm-up" performance at the recent Auckland Contest the band intends to be at its best.
Past Nationals Record: 2006 - 2005 - 2004 -
Papakura City Brass Musical Director: Ian Levien
Over the last three years, the Papakura City Brass Band has been rebuilt under the enthusiastic and capable leadership of Conductor Ian Levien, supported by his wife Denise, and Band Chairman John Lawson, together with many helpers.
With the considerable effort of our conductor, Ian Levien the band has once again reached the point where it can compete at the NZ National Brass Band Championships. The bands last appearance at the National contest was in Christchurch 2000.
