Retrospective: D Grade
Last years winners, Roxburgh Pioneer Generation Brass had to settle for second place as the consistency of the rebuilt Papukura City Brass emerged victorious.

The "King of the Kids" himself, Ian Levien, has led his band, Papakura City Brass, to a victory in the Hymn and Stage March, and a solid equal second in the Own Choice to clinch the D Grade title - with consistency of performance winning on the day.

There was some serious competition in the form of Roxburgh Pioneer Generation Brass, conducted by the energetic Allan Brown, who won the Own Choice by 2 points, but were unable to bring it all together in all pieces.

Gisborne Civic Brass conducted by Brian Kelly performed strongly in the hymn tune with expressive and maturity of direction being rewarded with a second place.

Hamilton Auxiliary Brass (Vicki Henderson) and Kumeu Brass (Peter Logger) were, at the end of the day, evenly matched to both earn an aggregate of 344.

If a countback were to be applied, Kumeu Brass would get the nod being 2 points ahead of Hamilton in the Own Choice.
