2007 New South Wales Brass Band Championships
Preview: B Grade
Sunday 26 August approx. 3.45pm
Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Penrith
Test: Emmanual Variations by Jim McCrudden
Gosford City Brass
Conductor: Mark Downy
Winners of the C Grade here in 2005, the band was subsequently regraded to B Grade.
Still yet to prove themselves in this grade.
Other than that, we are a bit in the dark we are about Gosford, as they did not compete here last year and did not attend the Nationals this year. Perhaps someone from Gosford could get in contact with us downunder@4barsrest.com
Hall Village
Conductor: Aaron Madden
Hall Village did not compete here last year but came away with a very respectable third place at this years Nationals in Ivanhoe and were only a smidge behind Sutherland overall.
Other than that we don't know too much about the band. If anyone from Hall Village could fill us in with some more detail please do - downunder@4barsrest.com
Parramatta City Band
Conductor: Jonathan Gatt
The band’s musical director Jonathan Gatt declined to comment.
Fourth out of four in this section last year, perhaps it will be a case of "the only way is up".
We look forward to hearing Parramatta.
Sutherland Shire Brass
Conductor: Warwick Tyrrell
This band should be very strong this contest.
Winners of the test in the B Grade Nationals this year, the band had to settle for overall second place and was unlucky not to take the Championship.
Sutherland was a close second to Warringah here last year and Warwick Tyrrell is a fine MD doing some great things with this band.
Hard to beat.
