Amanda Casagrande [Director]:

Amanda Casagrande has spent most of her life living and breathing brass bands and was born and raised in the historic banding town of Maryborough, Queensland. Taught by the late great Alec Connors, Amanda spent her formative years within the ranks of Maryborough Excelsior band before moving to Townsville. There she spent 16 years in tropical North Queensland where she completed Bachelor and Masters degrees in Science and Education, and an LTCL in performance. Whilst in Townsville, Amanda was actively involved in brass banding - primarily with Townsville Brass and also with Cairns.

Since moving south to Brisbane, Brisbane Excelsior has become her home band and she has been heavily involved, both musically and administratively, in its development as one of the leading brass bands in the Southern Hemisphere. She has no shortage of experience in the scene having played in Queensland and Australian representative bands, and has assisted several New Zealand bands in their contesting ventures. Whilst she has won numerous State and National individual achievements on cornet, Amanda has recently developed a particular fondness for the flugel.

Amanda volunteers her services as webmaster for 5 different websites including Brisbane Excelsior, the Federation of Australasian Brass Bands and the National Band Council of Australia.

Most recently, Amanda has been appointed by Professor David King as the Administrative Officer for National Australia Brass.
