Cory to support BrassFestUK 2018

The world's number 1 ranked band has offered it proactive support for composers wishing to take part in the worldwide BrassFestUK 2018 initiative.

cORY
Philip Harper and Cory has offered its proactive support to the initiative.

The 2018 BrassFestUK project has been launched with the addition of a Composition Competition

The event will take place over the weekend of the 6th/8th July with the 'Anthem for BrassFestUK 2018' coming from the winner of a Composition Competition supported by Cory Band.

The adjudication panel will comprise Christopher Bond, Gavin Somerset and Philip Harper, and its hoped that a piece to rival the hugely popular 'Spirit of Brass' in 2017 will be written by the winning entrant.

Showcase work

Event organiser Rob Tompkins told 4BR: "The success of the 2017 event was largely due to the popularity of Gavin's composition. By adding the composition contest once again it opens the door to an up and coming talent to showcase their work.

The winning piece will be recorded by Cory, and will be published and distributed by Pennine Music. We hope it will be performed by hundreds of bands across the world."

Cory video

In support of the initiative, Philip Harper and Cory have put together a short video on how to write for the brass band medium.

Bands wishing to take part in the 2018 event are encouraged to go to the website and register.
