The Welsh conductor has been flying around the globe of late.

Welsh conductor Craig Roberts will be racking up the air miles over the next few weeks with a series of international appearances in Canada, Germany and Norway (with a quick stop off in his home nation of Wales).

Tattoo

Craig was recently in Canada for a week in preparation for the 2018 Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo and North American Brass Band Summer School (above), both of which will be taking place in Halifax, Nova Scotia from June 23rd to July 3rd.

This year the Tattoo celebrates its 40th anniversary and will feature an international cast drawn from every continent of the globe.

Meanwhile, the Summer School will celebrate its fifth anniversary. Course Director Dr. Robert Childs will be joined by Tom Hutchinson, David Childs, Brett Baker and principal players from Fountain City and the current US Open and NABBA Champion, Atlantic Brass.

Germany

This week Craig is in Baden-Wurttemberg in Germany where he is working on the 3rd tri-annual 'Classic Camp'. The multi-national event will see orchestral and choral staff and students from Germany, Croatia, Spain and the UK rehearse and perform the epic 'Genesis Symphony' by Iranian composer Tolga Kashif.

Wales and Norway

Following that he will have a quick stop off in Wales to lead the Lewis Merthyr Band alongside the celebrated 11.2 metre tall 'Man Engine' mechanical miner in its appearance at Cyfartha Castle and Ynysangharad Park, before heading to Norway to work with Ila Brass Band on a programme of works exploring the development of brass band repertoire — from early transcriptions to 'Paganini Variations' and more.
