Yorkshire Youth enjoy music and munching

The final get together of the Yorkshire Youth Band was a great mix of music making and pizza eating!

Yorkshire Youth Band

The Yorkshire Youth Band has just enjoyed their last gathering of 2013.

The day was directed by founder, Dr Nicholas Childs and tutors from the Black Dyke Band, including Richard Marshall, Gary Curtin, Matthew Routley, Zoe Hancock, Jonathan Bates, Adrian Hirst, Andrea Price, and John O’Brien.

The structured format started with a full band rehearsal before the tutors took their sections to work on the new music already chosen for 2014, much of it to be first premiered on the Black Dyke Brass Festival on 23rd March at Leeds Town Hall.

Progress and pizzas

Following lunch and a further tutorial, the day concluded with a full rehearsal to highlight the musical progress made, before there was a chance to relax with some massive pizzas and soft drinks.

Positives

One proud parent Ruth McCartney, told 4BR: "The Yorkshire Youth Band has been such a wonderful experience for my son and everyone involved, with so many positives from a high standard of music and expert tuition to a massive amount of fun."

Inspired

A spokesperson for the YYBB added: "The purpose behind the creation of the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band is to inspire young youngsters, using the experience and talents of members of Black Dyke Band and facilities throughout Yorkshire.

Meeting six times during the year, members can gain valuable experience from a world class conductor and tutors."
