Windcorp make first appearance

The newly founded Windcorp Brass Band in Sweden having been having a busy time, but a lot of fun it seems.


On Sunday October 30th, the Windcorp Brass Band made its first public
appearance. In a two and a half hour concert, the 400 people in the audiencewere treated various items like Kenneth Hesketh's "Masque", Robert Redheads"Quintessence" as well as Quincy Jones lighter "Soul Bossa Nova" in anarrangement by Andrew Duncan. Windcorp Brass Band also played George Lloyd'swell-known "Royal Parks" which is selected as the A-section test piece forthis years Swedish Brass Band Championships.

The compère for the evening, solo tenor horn player Petter Ljungholm, showed not only his verbal talents, but also his wonderful musicality in his account of James Curnow's "The Depths of His Love".

On the whole, the members of the Windcorp Brass Band and their conductor Alexander Hanson were very pleased with their public debut and they very much look forward to play at the forthcoming Swedish Brass Band Championships."
