Windcorp enjoy tour

The Windcorp Band has enjoyed a mini tour with the help of BAYV.

The Windcorp Brass Band made two much-appreciated concerts last
month.

On Saturday 27th May the band appeared on the prestigious Swedish Wind Music Festival in Jönköping in a lunch concert shared with Immanuel Brass. Windcorp Brass Band played well-known items from the brass band literature such as 'MacArthur Park' and Heaton’s, 'Toccata', 'Oh the Blessed Lord' while Immanuel Brass treated the audience with tasteful arrangements of traditional Swedish music. This blend of styles and moods seemed to suit the
audience well and it was the perfect warm-up for the gala concert with the BAYV Band later in the evening.

On Sunday 28th May Windcorp Brass Band gave a two hour concert in Linköping playing Downie’s 'Purcell Variations, Broughton’s 'Hillcrest' among many other items. One of the true highlights was Leidzen’s cornet solo 'Songs in the Heart' featuring the band’s principal David Glänneskog. The technical difficulties as well as the lyrical essence of the piece were brilliantly
captured by the soloist and quite right brought the house down.

The concert was concluded with two encores and the band returned to its home-base in Gothenburg, tired but delighted with this short but intensive mini-tour.
