Twin television appearances for Fairey

The Fairey Band will appear on both ITV and the BBC — with coverage of their return home after a celebration of their famous acid trips...

Fairey

The official opening of the new Fairey Band rehearsal facility in Stockport will be televised as part of an extended report on the North West Regional news programme 'Granada Reports' on Friday 3rd February at 6.00pm.

Support

More than a year after their old bandroom was gutted by fire, the band will once more rehearse back where they were formed in 1937.

Band Chairman Martin Gernon told 4BR: "It’s taken a long time, and we have been grateful for the help and support of thousands of Fairey fans all over the banding world, but it is great to be able to be back where we belong."

Culture Show

Meanwhile, the band will also be seen performing on the BBC 2 flagship arts programme, ‘The Culture Show’ on 24th February in a programme that features the music of composer Jeremy Deller – the inspiration behind ‘Acid Brass’.

The band was filmed playing the music from two of their famous ‘Acid Brass’ recordings, conducted by Rodney Newton – the man who arranged the iconic music for brass band.
