World Rankings: October update

Further Welsh contest successes secure top rankings spots.

Cory Band

Welsh domination at the top of the World of Brass — British Bandsman Rankings is further cemented following last week’s National Final at the Royal Albert Hall, where Cory and Tredegar again took the top two places, reversing the order from the recent British Open.

Cory’s score now sits higher than any band since the rankings began in 2001 and there is a real possibility of the band breaking the 2,000 barrier by the end of the year if current form can be maintained through to the Brass in Concert Championship in November.

Significant movers since the last update include Woodfalls, which scored its first ever ‘frame’ placing at the Royal Albert Hall, and new National 1st Section Champion Tylorstown, while Valaisia Brass Band and Brisbane Excelsior both make significant strides following their victories in Switzerland and Australia respectively.
