Open bands reminded of registry requirements

Bands at Symphony Hall are reminded that they have to complete their on-line player registration requirements.

British Open registration

Bands that are competing at this year’s British Open Championship at Symphony Hall and who have yet to finalise their on-line player registration for the contest are being advised to ensure they do so as soon as possible.

Closing date

Each band’s completed registration form must be e-mailed to the Open Registry Administrator by 29th August.

British Open Registrar Colin Johnson told 4BR: "Following the successful introduction of the new on-line registry for the British Open series, our aim was to integrate its full features at the 2015 Spring Festival, where there will be no need for players to carry personal ID, and there will be no registration forms to complete.

However, it also means that band’s competing at this year’s British Open must complete the on-line player registration. Bands have been informed of the requirements which are simple to follow and implement, but need to be completed by the 29th August."

The system, which 4BR has seen in action, requires each band to register players in the internet based registry with their name, date of birth and photo image.

Colin added: "All players are currently registered through the 2014 Spring Festival, so if bands have not already done so, they should begin to attach player photo images in order that the new internet system can be fully operational at the 2015 Spring Festival."

Photo images are uploaded through the integrated ‘ticket support’ system that is a feature of the new registry. Bands use the facility and attach the image, which should be appropriately named, with several images accommodated on one single ‘ticket’ if required.

Internet access

At the contest, each player will report to the registration desk as usual, where the registration officials will have internet access to check each player’s record as they pass through.

Colin concluded: "We believe this development ensures a much more rigorous and robust registration system, that is much easier and faster, ensuring that bands have direct access to their actual registration records at any time.

We have worked with a number of bands to ensure the system works well. It has shown that changes can be easily affected up to and even on the day of the contest — simply, easily and with no fuss.

This new registration system is all completely free of charge, so I hope it can be used without any problem by all bands wishing to be part of the British Open series of competitions."
