Red carpet treatment for Open champions

A busy week sees Tredegar head to London for the premiere of the film Pride, their own Open rehearsal and even of contest concert...

Pride

Reigning British Open champion Tredegar will be taking a break from its Symphony Hall preparations tomorrow as they head for the bright lights and red carpet treatment in London to perform at the premiere of the eagerly anticipated British film, ‘Pride’.

Music

The band performs a significant portion of the incidental music as well as making a small cameo appearance in the film directed by Matthew Warchus.

‘Pride’ closed the Director’s Fortnight at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival to widespread critical acclaim, and is already being widely tipped as one of the film hits of the year.

Based on a true story about the 1984 Miners’ Strike, Stephen Beresford’s bitter sweet culture clash comedy recounts the true story of Gay Pride activists who set about raising money for the initially reticent Welsh miners, and stars the likes of Dominic West, Andrew Scott Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton and Paddy Considine.

It will be on general release in the UK from September 12th.

It is the start of an intensive week of work for the band ahead of their title defence with their own open rehearsal set to take place at the Tredegar bandroom on Thursday 4th September4BR
