King's treat for Whit Friday in Tameside

The Band of The King's Division will be on contesting parade in Tameside hoping to raise funds for the Army Benevolent Fund.

King's Division

There will be a real treat in store for the thousands of brass band lovers who will flock to the famous Whit Friday contests in Tameside this year.

The Band of The King's Division will once again be attending 'the greatest free show on earth' under the baton of Director of Music, Captain Justin Matthews.

Looking forward

It will be the second year in a row the professional Corps of Army Music band has taken part, and not surprisingly they are looking forward to it once more after gaining such a warm and supportive welcome last year (above).

They are also looking forward to topping the amount they won in prize money, which last year saw them donate over £1,200 to the Army Benevolent Fund.

This year the band intends to concentrate on the Tameside contests, hoping to repeat our success and raise some more money for the vital Armed Forces charitySpokesperson Cpl Peter May

Amazing welcome

Spokesperson Cpl Peter May told 4BR: "It's such a wonderful, world renowned occasion — and everyone associated with the band is looking forward to it once more. The welcome we got last year was amazing.

This year the band intends to concentrate on the Tameside contests, hoping to repeat our success and raise some more money for the vital Armed Forces charity, so please come along and support the event and the band — and make sure you give us a cheer!"
