National Youth Band retains funding levels from new education stream

A change in funding streams means the National Youth Band of Great Britain will maintain its full funding for the next two years — and hopefully beyond.

The National Youth Band of Great Britain will now receive its funding from two sources.

The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has confirmed that despite a technical change in its funding streams, the organisation will still retain full funding for the next two financial years and hopefully beyond.

Although it was confirmed yesterday that direct Arts Council England Funding will decrease over the next four years (2018/19 to 2021/2022) from £118,140 to £61,054 per year, it has now been confirmed that it will be replaced by funding from the Department of Education of £57,086 per annum for the next two (2018/19 and 2019/20).

As a National Youth Music Organisation (NYMO) our annual funding of £118,140 will now come from two sources; Arts Council England (£61,054) and the Department of Education (£57,086)Philip Biggs.

Funding change

National Youth Band of Great Britain Administrator Philip Biggs told 4BR: "We have been informed that the way in which we will receive funding over the next two years and hopefully in the future, has changed.

As a National Youth Music Organisation (NYMO) our annual funding of £118,140 will now come from two sources; Arts Council England (£61,054) and the Department of Education (£57,086).

The award from the Department of Education is initially for two years as they are currently only budget funded for that period from central government."
