The A4 Brass Quartet has enjoyed a fruitful few weeks in London, culminating in claiming one of the most prestigious chamber music prizes in the UK classical music scene, when they won the globally acclaimed Royal Over-Seas League Chamber Music Competition.

£10,000 first prize

Performing a set comprising of a brace of works by the group's horn player Jonathan Bates, an arrangement of a Japanese choral work by Kentaro Sato and an original work composed for the group by Thomas Doss, they claimed the £10,000 prize, alongside a performance opportunity at the ROSL Gold Medal event to be held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in June.

The impressive success follows the group's recent appearance in recital at the newly renovated Purcell Room at London's Southbank as part of the Musician's Company (formerly Worshipful Company of Musicians) awards, following their nomination by the Royal Northern College of Music.
