Foden's ready for Welsh swingers

The National Champion is heading to Newtown in Powys this weekend for their big band extravaganza with swing singer Matt Ford.

Foden's is getting ready to swing with big band singer Matt Ford in the heart of Wales this weekend.

The acclaimed duo will be performing at the Hafren Theatre in Newton in Powys on Saturday 23rd (7.30pm) with their 'Salute to Sinatra and the Swing Legends' programme.

Matt is regarded as one of the finest big band singers in the UK, working with the likes of the John Wilson Orchestra, BBC Big Band and the world famous Syd Lawrence Orchestra.

Speaking about Saturday's concert Foden's Mark Wilkinson told 4BR: "We're really looking forward to returning to Hafren Theatre for this concert, as we always get a warm welcome from an enthusiastic audience."

Six concerts

Mark also revealed further details of the six concerts in the forthcoming series, with the show also going to the Wirral, Lytham St Annes, Bolton, Altrincham and Macclesfield.

The show features a number of the National Champion's fantastic soloists as well as arrangements including 'I've Got You Under My Skin', 'Fly me to the Moon', 'Mack the Knife', 'My Way', 'New York, New York' and many more.

April 25 • Frome Town Band seeks a new Musical Director. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled musician with experience of running ensembles and events, who has an enthusiasm for and a vision towards developing the organisation as a community resource.


Sherborne Town Band

April 24 • Exciting opertunity for a principal cornet player to lead our friendly band. We also would be excited to hear from percussionists with experience in tuned percussion and kit. We are currently in the Championship section and have a busy schedule in 2024.


CLEETHORPES BAND CIO

April 24 • We have lots of cornets and horns but a little thin in the bottom end. Our players are happy to move around to help new players join the band, if you play baritone, euph or bass please give us a try. We rehearse every Sunday and Thursday at 7.30pm
