Staines combine to help Kenya Trust

Brass and voice come together to help raise funds for wonderful projects in Kenya.

Kenya Trust
The Kenya Trust will benefit from the fund raising efforts.

Staines Salvation Army's recent 'Into Africa' concert has once again raised valuable funds for improving education in rural Kenya.

The most recent event on behalf of The Kenya Trust, raised £1720 thanks to the efforts of the Staines Songsters who joined forces with guest band Ascot Brass in the African themed concert.

Charmed

The audience was certainly charmed (as well as informed) with an introduction from the children of Staines Corps entering the hall to African drums whilst chanting and holding aloft items which had been supplied by the Kenya Trust to Salvation Army projects in Kenya — including fire extinguishers, tables & chairs, musical instruments, toilet seats and mosquito nets!

The funds continue to support projects in refurbishing the dining room at Kwirenyi Junior School in Western Kenya and in refurbishing classrooms and lockers at Jogoo School — helping over 1400 pupils in the process.

Difference

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Education is a key enabler anywhere in the world, and makes such a difference to those who are most disadvantaged.

Thanks to the Staines Songster Brigade and Ascot Brass these children will be given hope of a brighter future."
