Bo'ness Slow Melody Contest

As part of their joint 150th Anniversary celebrations Bo'ness and Kinneil are putting on a Slow Melody Contest — so help them celebrate in style!

As part of their 150th Anniversary celebrations, both Bo’ness and Carriden and Unison Kinneil Bands’ have joined forces to stage a slow melody contest, to be held on Sunday 15th June.

The contests will be adjudicated by Allan Ramsay and Alastair Orr and the official accompanist will be Alan Hastie.

The start time of 10am, is to be confirmed nearer the time of contest, whilst the venue will be the Lesser Hall, Bo’ness Recreation Centre, Gauze Road, Bo’ness.

Categories

The contest will comprise a Junior Slow Melody Contest for players aged 17 years and under and a Senior Contest open to anyone.

Entries to both contests will be limited to 25 soloists and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Entry fees for the contest are £3 for juniors and £6 for seniors.

Prizes

The Junior Slow Melody Contest will have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed soloists overall, plus prizes for the best 12 years and under and best 14 years and under.

The Senior Slow Melody Contest will have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed soloists overall, plus a prize for the best soloist over 40 years.

Entry forms

Entry forms will be sent out to band secretaries and will soon be available to download from either www.carridenband.co.uk or www.kinneilband.co.uk

Closing date for entries will be 31st May.

Tintwistle Band

June 9 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a 2nd horn player to help complete the team. . We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm under the baton of our MD Jim Henson, at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
