Perc provision for British Open announced

The extensive percussion requirements that will be provided by the British Open contest organisers on the day has been announced to help bands — and to make the contest flow a little bit quicker.

The organisers of the 164th British Open Championship have informed competing bands of the percussion instrumentation that will be provided for use at Symphony Hall on Saturday 10th September.

Help at hand

The equipment will be provided by Ray Payne, whose son, Michael will be available throughout the contest day to give assistance.

The organisers have also informed competitors that to help with an efficient changeover between bands, the timpani should not be moved from the original fixed position, and where possible, the stated percussion plan should be adhered to.

It has also been decided with the agreement of Peter Graham, the composer of 'The Triumph of Time' that the opening section of recorded clocks will be omitted for the British Open contest.

Meanwhile, any bands that are yet do so have also been asked to provide an updated biography (Max 300 words) and hi-resolution image to be used in the contest programme.

These should be sent to the contest controller, Frank Hodges at: frankhodges@btinternet.com

Limited number of tickets remain

With just over eight weeks to go before the contest, there are approximately 100 tickets remaining solely in the Grand Tier and the box office at Symphony Hall advises anyone who is yet to purchase their tickets, to do so quickly, to avoid any disappointment.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office on 0121 780 3333 or clicking on the following link:
