First Section:

Williams Fairey seem to have had a hand in the winning performance of Mossley in Section One, with their ex flugel horn star Simon Stonehouse leading his band to a well deserved win as last band on in the contest. United Co-op Crewe continued their good form of late gaining second spot under the experienced Jeff Sparkes. Just missing out on a trip to the Finals were Dobcross under Simon Wood who gave a good performance to get third place.

Second Section:

Delight for Ted Griffiths, the father of YBS superstar players Morgan and Geraint, who showed his sons that the father has got what it takes to win as well. His Dobcross Youth band again secured success with a performance that had them gain a narrow one point win over Poulton le Fylde and G. Clough. Just missing out were Hawk Green (Marple) who gained third place.

Third Section:

They came they saw and they conquered, as Manx Concert Brass from the Isle of Man, travelled over the Irish Sea to record victory in he Third Section with a narrow one point with over rivals and fellow qualifiers for the Finals, British Energy Morecambe. The first two bands of the day held the top spots for nearly the entire length of the contest until Manx brought the contest to a close with a with a winning performance of the test piece.

Fourth Section:

A close run contest saw Pemberton Old Wigan B band improve on the fortunes of their sister band in Section One, when they gained a clear cut two points win in the Fourth Section under P. Ashley. Also joining them for a trip to the Finals will be Nelson Brass under K. Ritchmond, who edged out Trinity Girls, who set the standard for the day with a performance off the number one draw that gave them third place.
