4BR to take on the Judges of the Secret Court!

4BR has been asked to address the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators on the topic of Open Adjudication.

4BarsRest to Champion Open Adjudication.

4BarsRest has been invited to address the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators at its Annual General Meeting on the 6th January to discuss in an open forum, the case for whether adjudication (especially at our flagship contests) should be open or closed.

Iwan and Anthony will go up to the meeting where Iwan will put forward the case for open adjudication, whilst Stan Lippeatt, the conductor of Thoresby Band will put forward the case for continuing with closed adjudication.

4BR were approached by Malcolm Brownbill at the recent National Finals in his capacity as Public Relations Officer for the Association and we were delighted to accept the invitation to out our point of view forward to the 46 or so members. The forum will be chaired Derek Broadbent and both parties will have equal time to address the meeting, who will then discuss both presentations.

We are looking forward to a warm and friendly welcome, and we’ll hopefully be canvassing our own readers in the near future about their ideas and opinions.
