Band Stalwart Tom Wall suffers stroke

Parr Band report that band President Tom Wall, has had a stroke.

Parr Band report that band President Tom Wall, has had a stroke. His presence around the North West and local band scene is really well known and despite his octogenarian years he rarely missed a practice. The good news is that he is slowly recovering. We all wish him well.

This comes on the news that Derek Price, who started playing with the band aged 9 and was associated, over time, with many local bands died of a heart attack aged 49 on the 23rd December 2002.

On a happier note the band held its annual Junior Solo Competition at which 20 of the junior members took part. Over the last 12 months, twelve young players took The Royal Schools of Music examinations at a Practical Level, whilst 4 others took Theory examinations.
