JAG get a Small present for Xmas

JAG Mount Charles have announced that Jon Small is their new resident conductor.

JAG Mount Charles have ended weeks of speculation regarding their resident conductor and are delighted to announce the appointment of Jonathan Small.

Jon started his musical association with the band back in 1974 where he first became interested in the cornet. In 1982 his studies took him to the Guildhall School of Music, London, where he studied Trumpet under Maurice Murphy and Crispian-Steele- Perkins. After four years of musical education Jon became a freelance Trumpet player and teacher performing throughout the U.K. and overseas.

1992 saw Jon return to Cornwall with his colourful experiences to take the Soprano
cornet chair which he holds to date with distinction. Since 2000 Jon has shown his
abilities as a conductor and trainer shaping JAG Mount Charles Youth Band to one of
the finest youth bands in the land, including National Youth Band Champions of G.B.
2003.

Chairman Derek Thomas is delighted with the appointment and said 'Its great that Jon has accepted the challenge of maintain the band's ambitions'.

The band very much hope they can continue to move forward in the new year and consider this appointment a major step towards their goal.
