Denis and Maud Wright Composition Award

Four talented composers in line for the inaugural Award.

 

The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain is delighted to announce that the inaugural Denis and Maud Wright Composition Award will take place this coming Saturday (13th December) at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester in the Opera Theatre.

The Fairey FP (Music) Band has been engaged to rehearse and perform these works. The day will be led by Geoffrey Brand and Geoffrey will conduct the Fairey FP (Music) Band in all four works. Also officiating will be Prof. Philip Wilby, Dr. Roy Newsome and Arthur Butterworth M.B.E. who will form the NYBBGB music panel. Prof. Wilby will Chair a composition workshop in the morning at the RNCM.

Four compositions have been selected; the compositions and the composers are as follows:-

Band — Pete Meechan
Fantasies for Band — David Morgan
Hypodermic Syringe — Stephen Barchan
Moods of Cornwall — Samantha Garton

The rehearsal will be from 1.30pm to 3.30pm and the performance of all works will commence at 4.00pm — 5.00pm.
Admission is free of charge and everyone is welcomed for both the rehearsal and the performance.
