Composed your Brighouse piece yet?

Any budding composers out there who want to write a short piece to honour Brighouse's 125th year in 2006, have until 31st December to get your entries in.

Brighouse and Rastrick have informed 4BR that they have had a great response so far to the Composition Competition—which is kick-starting their 125 year Anniversary Celebrations in 2006.

Over 25 entries have been received so far—from composers as far away as Dubai, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand—as well as many UK based entrants. In addition to the volume and location of entrants—it’s been really refreshing to see composers of all ages supporting the competition.

Whilst the deadline for the receipt of entries (12 noon — 31st December 2005) is fast approaching—there is still just about time to apply the finishing touches and enter.

As a reminder, the competition is to compose an original 3 to 4 minute long concert ‘opener’, and the prize is made up of:

£1000 to be awarded to the composer of the winning composition;

The work will be premiered at the ‘B&R 125 Celebration Concert’ in Huddersfield Town Hall in March 2006;

The composition will be published by Kirklees Music, who will present the composer with a trophy and a publishing contract.

Any remaining entries need to be sent ASAP to:
The Brighouse & Rastrick Band,
c/o Mr. A.J.Wilkinson,

“Briggus” have a wide variety of other events planned for their celebration year—further details to follow shortly.
