Sellers celebrate's successful year

The Sellers Youth Band has had a busy festive period as it brings to a close its most successful year to date.

The culmination of the Sellers International Youth Band's busy Christmas period was a fantastic concert at Holmfirth Civic Hall on Sunday 18th December, where they appeared alogside the outstanding Honley Male Voice Choir (Musical Director Alan Jenkins) and TV celebrity Gordon Kaye, otherwise known as Rene from the popular comedy series, Allo Allo.

The band's performance, which included popular christmas classics and items from their current repertoire, drew a truly warm and enthusiatic response from the packed hall. Gordon Kaye enjoyed the band's contribution so much that he asked them to reprise their performance of the Muppet Show Theme at the end of the concert.

Everyone associated with the band can look back at 2005 with much satisfaction as it has undoubtedly been its most successful year to dateMark Bousie

Sellers Youth Band would like to thank Craig Ratcliffe, Musical Director of the Tewitt Youth Band who took the baton for the evening in the absence of Mark Bousie, who was otherwise engaged, performing with Sellers International Band at the Sellers Charity Concert at Dewsbury Town Hall.

The youth band's christmas season has seen them entertaining the locals of Huddersfield, with many performances across the town encompassing shopping centres, supermarkets and the town's St. Luke's Hospital.

Everyone associated with the band can look back at 2005 with much satisfaction as it has undoubtedly been its most successful year to date with first prizes at Pogson Bray Contest, Delph and Dobcross Whit Friday Youth Contests and the Youth in Brass Competition. The Band also gave the premiere of Pete Meechan's 'The Chronicles of Odersfelt' at the National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain and has significantly continued to raise money for local charities.

The band hope that 2006 will just as successful and enjoyable.
