Martin told 4BR:

'During a recent 4 month work spell away in Norwich, I sat in with Matthews Norfolk Brass in order to keep my lip in shape for contests and concerts with my own band back home on weekends.

Soprano

I would like to thank David and the members of the band, in particular Richard and Katie Wilson, for making it such an enjoyable 4 monthsMartin Irwin

Conductor David Stowell and the band made me feel very welcome, and allowed me the flexibility to sit anywhere on the cornet section where there was a gap each night. I particularly enjoyed playing Soprano cornet again. We also had the occasional drink in the bar afterwards!

I would like to thank David and the members of the band, in particular Richard and Katie Wilson, for making it such an enjoyable 4 months. They’re a great bunch, and I wish them all a great Christmas and a happy and successful 2007.

Highlight

The highlight for me was playing Soprano cornet with them on a BBC Songs of Praise recording at the Thursford Collection in North Norfolk. It was the Christmas Spectacular, and will be screened on BBC1 on Christmas Eve.
