Carols for the Beeb for Dodworth

Dodworth Colliery MW recently rounded off their succesful year by recording carols for the BBC.

Last Sunday Dodworth Colliery MW Band recorded the BBC Radio Sheffield Christmas Carol Concert.

The concert is scheduled for broadcast to the South Yorkshire region by Radio Sheffield on Christmas Eve at 6.00pm and Christmas Day at 9.00am.

Recording took place at the Emmanuel Methodist Church, Barnsley infront of a capacity audience. The Sheffield Chorale Chior also took part in the concert which was compered by Radio Sheffields presenter Ronay Robinson.

The occassion rounds off another sucsessful year having won the Yorkshire Area 3rd Section title, Tameside Open Championships and Wilkinsons Northern Open Championships along with promotion to the Second Section in 2008Secretary, Rob Loukes

Repeat performance

This is the second year in sucsession that Dodworth have recorded the Carol service for the BBC as normally it changes bands each year and the Band and MD Eliot Darwin considered it an honour to be invited back for a second time.

Rob Loukes, Band Secretary told 4BR: "The occassion rounds off another sucsessful year having won the Yorkshire Area 3rd Section title, Tameside Open Championships and Wilkinsons Northern Open Championships along with promotion to the Second Section in 2008."
