Lightning strikes twice at Leyland

A story of a trombone player who can't keep his hands on his instrument...

Leyland

It seems that Leyland's star trombone player Thomas Swatland has recently been experiencing some problems with keeping his trombone in check.

Missing bone

A few months ago, only a week before the band went on stage at the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall, the Salford University student’s Rath trombone was ‘lost in transit’ whilst returning from Barcelona. Thankfully though it was returned to him unharmed in time for the contest.

More recently though the same trombone made yet another escape, this time making the somewhat shorter journey from Salford to Manchester.

Second escape

It turned up a few days after its disappearance in the flat of Scotsman Stuart Black, former flugal player at the Timperley Band and currently conducting the Greenfields Band. A source told 4BR: "Thomas isn’t having the best of luck with his trombone at the moment and I sometimes think he would forget his head if it wasn’t screwed on!"

Thankfully his head is screwed on and his trombone was returned in time for his return to Norway on 16th December for the Christmas break.
