Windcorp celebrate year of achievement

The Windcorp Band had a year to remember in 2007.

Windcorp

The Windcorp Band from Sweden can look back at 2007 with delight.

The year started with an appearance at the first Scandinavian Trombone Festival held in Arvika, where the band accompanied world-famous trombonists Michel Becquet, Chris Houlding and Stefan Schulz.

Swedish Champions

In the autumn, the band won the Swedish Brass Band Championships for the first time ahead of the runners-up Solna Brass. In addition the band’s trombone section was awarded the trophy for “Best Instrumentalist”.

Next year will see the band compete at the Grenland International Brass Festival as well as try to defend its title at the Swedish Brass Band ChampionshipsHenrik Glänneskog, Band Secretary

Year end

At the end of the year Windcorp, in co-operation with Swedbank gave two concerts as a part of the Swedish Lucia celebration. The concerts were highly appreciated, featuring several pieces for choir and band, vocal solos by Thomas Lind from the Gothenburg Opera House.

Very succesful year

Henrik Glänneskog, Band Secretary told 4BR: "In all, this was a very successful year for the three year old band from Göteborg. Next year will see the band compete at the Grenland International Brass Festival as well as try to defend its title at the Swedish Brass Band Championships."
