Last contest for Bradley

Ken Bradley has officially announced his retirement from the position as Musical Director of St Mary's Band Club brass band.

St Mary's Band Club Brass Band

Ken today reported to 4BRDU that he has been in discussions with the band's players and committee, planning for a new Musical Director to take over the reigns following the Australian Championships at Easter this year.

Ken has been the MD for St Mary's for over 20 years during which time the band has attended every national championship in Australia since 1987 and the national championships of New Zealand in 1988. The band has NSW, Australian and New Zealand national B-grade titles to its credit before promotion to A-grade in late 1988. The band has been strongly competitive in A Grade since then. Ken is very keen to see the band progress and achieve to its true potential.

Late last year, Bryan Hurdley spent a weekend working with Ken and St Mary's, and it is hoped that the band will again seek his skills for the Ern Keller Band of the Year and in its lead up preparations for the Oz Nationals at Easter.

As well as giving solid financial support to its brass band, the St Mary's Band Club sponsors the Annual Ern Keller International Soloist and Band of the Year competition, and local contest, the Battle of the Bands.
