Busy St Ronan's ready for 2007

The St Ronan's Band has had a busy Christmas but is now looking forward to the New Year.

St Ronans

It appears that the St Ronan's Band and its players has had a busy, and succesful time of it of late.

Their 11 year old cornet player David Tait has been awarded the Innerleithen Community Council trophy for giving the most commitment to St. Ronan's Future Band over the last year. The presentation was made by Chairman of the Council, Ross McGinn, at the Band's recent concert. David has played with the Band for two years and is principal cornet of the Future Band as well as playing 3rd cornet in the main band.

Meanwhile, the Band's annual Christmas Concert was hugely successful, with a capacity audience in the town's Memorial Hall. The Band's musical director, Captain Alex Knox, had prepared a delicious feast of music and having enjoyed a successful year, the Band members were in the mood to let their hair down and the enjoyment of all of the performers was obvious.

Ex members return

The Band also fulfilled its duty once again on New Year's Day when it played around the town. The Band has performed this function for many, many years and this year the Band was pleased to welcome ex-members on the day, including Warren Lindsay (Royal Marines) and Scott Forrest (Whitburn Band) who also brought along his Band colleagues, Robert and Graham Fraser to play. The Band was also joined by Debbie Moss a cornet player with Greenall's Brewery Band in Wigan who was spending New Year in Innerleithen.

The Band is now looking forward to a busy 2007 which will see the members involved in a variety of events, including concerts in May and September as well as contests and other engagements.
