Great times ahead for Wardle

Wardle strengthens links with the community and finishes 2006 in style.

 

Wardle High School recently finished off 2006 in style by playing their Christmas Eve concert to 2000 people. In total Wardle High School has enjoyed linking up with their local community over the festive period and each of their 4 bands have performed over 50 concerts during December.

The Training, Junior, Intermediate and Senior Bands all performed many Christmas Concerts including their performances at the Christmas Extravaganza with guest soloist Richard Marshall of Black Dyke. The Wardle bands performed at venues all over the North-West.

The festive period ended in style with the Wardle Senior Band playing to 2000 people at their annual Christmas Eve Carol Concert at the Huge Christmas Tree in Wardle town centre conducted by Lee Rigg.

Paul Lovatt-Cooper the Head of Music at Wardle is extremely proud of the bands achievements and told 4BR: ""It's a privalige to be working with such highly dedicated music staff and pupils at Wardle High. It has been a demanding Christmas concert season and both the pupils and staff have performed brilliantly — it's a pleasure to be apart of such an amazing music department."

Chinnor Silver

November 20 • Despite winning the 2nd section at the GBBA contest we still need a Bb BASS to complete our line up. Good but realistic book of concerts and concerts planned.. We have well attended rehearsals on a Wednesday in our own bandroom.


Hucknall & Linby Brass

November 20 • Hucknall and Linby Band - 2nd section- Require a front row cornet player. We rehearse Thursdays 7.30 -9.30 in Hucknall, Nottingham. With great transport links to the city centre and the universities.


Newstead Brass

November 18 • Bb Cornet (position negotiable). . Newstead Brass, established Midlands Championship section, have opportunity for an additional cornet player. Suitable for experienced player or someone looking to take the next step in their development.
