Cory opt for youthful development

Cory look to the future with announcement of new Youth Band.

Budding young brass players in the South Wales valleys will now have the opportunity to become part of the number 1 band in the world, following the announcement of the launch of the Cory Youth Band.

From January, the current Welsh and Brass in Concert Champion hopes to provide the structure to support local children to learn and develop their playing skills by receiving support and tuition from senior Cory players.

The move bids to halt the decline of brass educational services in the band’s locality as well as throughout many parts of Wales in recent years and will form part of an ambitious ongoing youth development strategy.

Weekly tuition

Weekly tuition will be provided by Cory players for youngsters aged between 7 & 17 through assistance from the youth programme of the Arts & Business Cymru ‘Arts & Kids’ initiative in partnership with the band’s logistic partners D1 Design and Creative Limited.

Additional financial support has been granted by The Michael Tippett Musical Foundation to support the ongoing work, whilst the young players will also be provided with a brass instrument courtesy of Besson Musical Instruments in conjunction with Ev-entz Music.

A Cory spokesperson told 4BR: "Cory Band would like to thank Arnaud Montois, Lyndon Chapman and Adrian Evans who have made it possible for Cory Youth to perform on first class Besson Instruments and would like to thank all our partner organisations for their financial support and vision in supporting this latest initiative."
