Willebroek hope Sshh approach will work in Birmingham

Brass Band Willebroek has teamed up with the Sshhmute makers to make sure they make a quiet impression at Symphony Hall.

Brass Band Willebroek will be using the Bremner Sshhmutes when they take to the stage at Symphony Hall next month.

Brass Band Willebroek's cornet section will be hoping not to make too much of a noise at the forthcoming British Open Championship in Birmingham.

The acclaimed former European and multiple Belgian champions have just entered into a partnership with Bremner Music and will use their renowned 'Sshhmute's at the event.

Belgium to New Zealand

Initial contact was established three years ago by Betty Bremner and Principal Cornet, Lode Violet — a link that extends from Belgium to New Zealand where the company is based.

It will also be renewed once again when they met at Symphony Hall, where Betty and husband Trevor will be supporting Wellington Brass, conducted by their son David.

Satisfaction

Lode told 4BR: "The level of satisfaction with the practice mutes — which have been highly acclaimed by artists such as Alison Balsom, James Morrison & Christian Lindberg, has been enormous.

There is close to no extra resistance, excellent intonation and no need to disturb anybody around you ever again while practising. They are ideal for our appearance at Symphony Hall on 'The Triumph of Time'.

Fine product

Conductor Frans Violet added: "The new whisper mute, with its enormous dynamic range, fuelled the interest of Brassband Willebroek to use the fine product at up-coming performances.

That's how a deal was reached between both parties to equip the cornet section with a set of these mutes."
