4BR Money List

Someone has to be the early leader in the money making stakes each year – and after their Butlins win its Redbridge with plenty of dosh in the bank.

After their win at the Butlins Mineworkers Championships in Skegness on the weekend, it is the Redbridge who are the early leaders of the 2009 4BR Money List – and they will take some beating for some time yet.

Biggest single prize

Redbridge picked up the biggest single prize in world banding of £7,000 to set themselves up very nicely for the forthcoming season, whilst second placed Hepworth (Cookson Homes) pocketed £3,000 with reigning champions Desford taking home with them £2,000.

Pay out

Also enjoying a pay out were Virtuosi GUS and Wingates, each of whom left with £1,000 after coming fourth and winning the ‘Most Entertaining’ prizes respectively.

Section wins

In the other sections, the wins for Blackburn & Darwen, East London Brass, Shirebrook MW Unison and Eccles Borough (the latter two bands enjoying their second successive victories at the contest) meant that each took home £1,500.

Youth Brass 2000 meanwhile left with £1,000 to their name afte winning the inaugural Butlins Youth Championships.

All eyes are now set on Bergen in Norway and Yeovil in the West of England for the next banding payouts.

Euros

In past years, winners of the Elite Section at the Norwegian Nationals end up with around £3,700 for their efforts, whilst there is traditionally £2,000 on offer at Yeovil. The French meanwhile may be paying out some fast appreciating Euros in Paris at the French Nationals.

After that it’s the Regionals – plenty of glory but not a great wad of cash for the efforts of getting to Harrogate and London.
