Advert: Geneva Instruments

Rothwell Temperance is the latest band to seek perfect Harmony Music with the help of Geneva cornets.

Rothwell and their new Geneva cornets

The entire cornet section of Yorkshire Championship Section challengers Rothwell Temperance have chosen to play on the new Geneva Symphony cornets – and in time for their Bradford appearance on the weekend.

Easy decision

As principal cornet Tim Hammond told 4BR, it was an easy decision to make.

"Geneva Instruments visited the band just three weeks ago with a couple of instruments for us to try out. That evening we were rehearsing ‘Harmony Music’ for Bradford and ‘Red Priest’ for the Grand Shield, and everyone that played on the cornets gave excellent feedback."

Put it right

He added: "For many years the cornet section has been playing on different makes, some 15 years old or more. As a result, intonation issues were starting to be a cause for concern, so we wanted to put everything right in time for the next big contest challenge.

After much discussion we decided that we all needed to be playing on the same make of instrument – and it was Geneva we unanimously agreed on."

Best of all

Tim continued: "We took stock of our new cornets before the next rehearsal, and after giving them a thorough trial blow we individually picked the ones we wanted.

We started with a couple of concert pieces before switching to ‘Harmony Music’. The difference was so marked – superb in fact. The cornet section sounded fantastic, with great projection, richer tonality – and best of all – perfectly in tune."

Guarantee

He concluded: "Everyone is thrilled to bits with their new Geneva Symphony cornet. They are fantastic instruments — free blowing, very well made, and possessing a beautiful rich warm sound and superb intonation throughout and with a lifetime guarantee.

Now it’s up to us to show just how good they are this weekend."
