Great War commemoration gains emotive response

The musical partnership between composer Adam Shilton and Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West has gained an emotive response on its premiere in Crewe.

Composer Adam Shilton’s new film score ‘Where the Fallen Live Forever’, which commemorates the sacrifice of World War 1 soldiers from Crewe in Cheshire, was recently premiered to critical acclaim at the town’s Lyceum Theatre.

Screening

As previously reported on 4BR, the composer worked with the Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West for the performance of the work, which was linked to the screening of a documentary film.

"Performing a piece in such a way created a unique experience for everyone involved," Adam (above) told 4BR. "The powerful personal meaning of the content left indelible memories."

Perfect reaction

The performance also gained a standing ovation from the audience, which also made the premiere an unforgettable event.

"It seemed to be the perfect reaction," he added, "with the audience showing their appreciation of the sacrifice that was made on their behalf by such brave men."

Thanks

Adam also thanked the band for their outstanding contribution to the community inspired project: "Jef Sparkes and the band worked so hard on this. It’s one thing for a band to believe in something new from a composer, but to embrace and perform the piece the way they did brought it to life."

It seemed to be the perfect reaction with the audience showing their appreciation of the sacrifice that was made on their behalf by such brave menComposer, Adam Shilton

Brass in the Blood

Adam now turns his focus to developing a full feature film score for his other commemorative work, ‘Brass in the Blood’ although he says that a third war related piece commemorating the centenary of the battle of the Somme is being discussed.
