Lofthouse and Stretton provide tasty Cafe menu

The combination of James Stretton and a huge musical menu of instruments gives the latest Lofthouse Band Music Cafe a great boost in customers...

Music cafe

It wasn’t just tea and biscuits on offer at Lofthouse Band’s recent ‘Music Café’, as there were also a plethora of plastic trombones, tons of tenor horns, a cornucopia of cornets and even plenty of percussion amongst the goodies to have a taste of!

Follow on

The morning event followed on from the band’s highly successful 'Brassed On' week in local schools, where over 1,500 children were introduced to music and the joys that come with playing a brass (or even plastic) instrument.

MD Andrew Whitaker, told 4BR: “It was another great success. We had over 25 people join the Training Band on the day, plenty of others expressing an interest and some even taking an instrument home with them to have a go!

It was certainly a worthwhile day and people of all ages came along to try out the instruments.”

Surprise

Andrew added: “What surprised most visitors was that our lessons are offered free of charge and that we offer a free instrument loan scheme. All we ask is that they come along, show enthusiasm and enjoy themselves!”

Stretton

The morning was co-hosted by James Stretton of Orichalcum Brass, who once again brought a huge variety of instruments along with him — from plastic trombones and plastic trumpets to piccolo trumpets, post horns, slide trumpets and even hosepipes!

Andrew concluded: “Everyone at Lofthouse would like to extend their thanks to James and all the help he has given them to make the event a huge success. He really was an inspiration.”
