Shirebrook leads the bandstand attractions

The brilliant summer weather is ideal to listen to brass bands in the open air — especially in Shirebrook

Cornet
Go along and listen to the bands if the weather stays as nice as it is...

The great summer weather means there is no time like the present to enjoy brass band concerts in the park around the country.

Chief amongst them is the series taking place at Shirebrook Town Park which start at 2.00pm each month.

Bandstand concerts

So if you are in the areas why not go along and enjoy the bands...

24th June: Hucknall & Linby Mining Community Band
22nd July: Shirebrook Miners Welfare Band
5th August: Carlton Brass
19th August: Rolls Royce (Derby)
2nd September: Blidworth Welfare Band

If it rains the concerts will be held in Shirebrook Leisure Centre.

Shirebrook Open contest

And if that isn't enough to whet the appetite, don't forget the Shirebrook Open Brass Band Entertainment Contest on 8th July at Shirebrook Leisure, starting at 10.00am. There are 15 bands to enjoy there!!

Support us for less than a cup of coffee...

4BR wants to ensure that the brass band movement remains vibrant and relevant. We also want to be able to question, challenge and critically examine those who run and play in it, producing high quality journalism that informs as well as entertains our readers.

So if like us you value a strong, independent perspective on the brass band world - then why not consider becoming a supporter and help make our future and that of a burgeoning brass band movement more secure.

So one less cappuccino then?
