Bodmin Town Band recently launched its brand new Youth Band, with its members already enjoying playing success.

The Cornish organisation already has an established training band and was delighted to be able to offer youngsters the chance to learn more about playing in a brass band.

Organised

Musical Director Rachael Sargent told 4BR that senior band players were excited about the recent changes with the youth band and are looking forward to working with the children to develop their music skills.

Rachael said: "We already have engagements and contests organised for the upcoming year. The Youth Band will also get to work alongside our established MD John Maines in preparation for contests and will be supported as do the Training band by members of the senior band.

Everyone was thrilled with the recent success at the St Dennis Solo & Quartet contest, which holds great promise for the band for future."

4BR wants to ensure that the brass band movement remains vibrant and relevant. We also want to be able to question, challenge and critically examine those who run and play in it, producing high quality journalism that informs as well as entertains our readers.

So if like us you value a strong, independent perspective on the brass band world - then why not consider becoming a supporter and help make our future and that of a burgeoning brass band movement more secure.

So one less cappuccino then?
