Strata Brass has been boosted by a raft of new signings as they prepare for the challenges of Huddersfield and Blackpool...

The new signings have boosted Strata in time for the important contest challenges of Huddersfield and Blackpool

Strata Brass has announce several new signings ahead of their Championship Section appearance at the forthcoming Yorkshire Area contest in Huddersfield.

Following their podium finish at the recent Brass at the Guild contest, student Kelvin Tsang takes up the solo euphonium role, whilst Joe Bradford moves up to assistant principal cornet having impressed everyone with his playing on the repiano cornet seat over the last few weeks.

David Edwards comes in to take on that role, with Oliver Bartlett moving up from Wales from City of Cardiff Mellingriffith Band to fill the second trombone position. Finally, Josh Allen makes a welcome return on EEb tuba.

Looking forward

Band Manager Rob Hardy told 4BR: "We are looking forward to challenges competing in the top section at Huddersfield and to our first appearance at the Spring Festival in Blackpool.

The band has continued its recent policy under MD Jonathan Bates to encourage young players to meet the challenges ahead and is benefitting from their contribution working on our contest and exciting concert programmes for the year."
