The Formby Band made sure their former horn player Roy Shaw had a 92nd birthday to remember
Members of Formby Band recently made a wonderful surprise visit to the home of former horn player Roy Shaw to help him celebrate his 92nd birthday!
Roy has enjoyed a lifetime of brass banding. He originally joined the St Francis de Sales Scout Band aged just 8, where he remained until he joined the army aged 18.
On his discharge he then enjoyed a wonderful playing career with the Edge Hill British Rail Band in Liverpool.
Support us for less than a cup of coffee...
4BR wants to ensure that the brass band movement remains vibrant and relevant. We also want to be able to question, challenge and critically examine those who run and play in it, producing high quality journalism that informs as well as entertains our readers.
So if like us you value a strong, independent perspective on the brass band world - then why not consider becoming a supporter and help make our future and that of a burgeoning brass band movement more secure.
So one less cappuccino then?
