Kleptomanics on a nicking spree again

Those musical light fingered musicians from the Septura Ensemble have pinched some brilliant heirlooms from Faure and Gershwin for their latest heist...

Septura
The lads have been on the pinch again...

Those devilishly innovative performers of the Septura Ensemble will carry on their highly successful 'KLEPTOMANIA' series of concerts with a 'Song Swag' on 9th and 10th July in Cambridge and London.

The programme explores the relationship between Ravel and Gershwin, and features the latter's 'An American in Paris' in a brand new version for brass septet.

Nickers

Their spokesperson told 4BR: "As everyone knows we are compulsive 'nickers', so with no canon of repertoire or no grand history of great compositions to fall back on we simply open a composer's musical safety deposit box and see what's inside!

This is another 'steal' — this time from two brilliant composers. Like musical Robin Hoods we thieve from the richest ensembles to create a counterfactual history to give to the poor listener — a parallel universe in which, in the world of chamber music, the brass septet rules!"

On show

The concert charts a course from Faure's 'Melodies', through Ravel's 'Mother Goose', to his friend Gershwin's 'Three Preludes' and 'Song Book' to his iconic 'An American in Paris', especially arranged for brass and solo car-horns.
