Four new signings boost the Skelmanthorpe ranks

The Skelmanthorpe Band has announced a quartet of personnel changes and new signings.

New signings

Lindsey Abell becomes their new flugel player. Lindsey has played cornet in the band for over four years, and has spent the last year playing repiano. The move sees her replace Becky Abernethy, who has stepped down from playing.

Meanwhile, the soprano cornet seat has been filled Tom Wynn who is joining from Hebden Bridge. Tom has recently graduated with a first class music degree at Huddersfield University, and replaces Louise Belton who has moved to Carlton Main Frickley.

Trom and tuba

To complete the trombone section, the experienced Lewis Blackmore comes in on second trombone. Lewis was BSM of the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, and has more recently played for Yorkshire Imperial Band.

Finally, EEb tuba player David Allcock joins the bass section after moving to Huddersfield from the Long Eaton Band. He will replace Gregor Spence who is moving to Wales to study at the Royal Welsh College in September.

We're delighted to welcome each of the new players, and we also congratulate Lindsey on her move to flugelMD, Martin Heartfield

Welcome

MD Martin Heartfield told 4BR: "We're delighted to welcome each of the new players, and we also congratulate Lindsey on her move to flugel. The band would also like to thank each of the outgoing players for their excellent contributions."
