CWA Brass take Irish title

We have the details of the latest Northern Ireland Brass Band Contest.


CWA Brass take Northern Ireland Championship title.

CWA Brass has just won the most recent Northern Ireland Championship title on offer. Playing Tallis Variations by Philip Sparke, the band overcame the strong challenge of Laganvale and 1st Old Boys (Seacat) Bands to take the top prize.

Meanwhile in the Second Section, Downshire Brass took the top honours with a clear two point win playing the set test, “A Salford Sinfonietta” by Darrol Barry, over rivals Third Carrikfergus in second place and Ballyduff Silver in third.

The Third Section saw victory for St. Joseph’s Brass conducted by Duncan Beckley who gave a commanding performance to secure a clear two point victory over Roughan Silver in second place and Newtonards Silver in third spot.

The Fourth Section title was won by St. Marks Silver who had a two point winning margin over Ballinamallard Silver in second place and Symington Memorial in thord place.

The adjudicator for the championships was Mrs Hughina Naylor

The Marple Band

Frampton on Severn Silver Band

June 22 • We are a friendly non-contesting band in Gloucestershire looking for players, particularly cornets, baritone and basses, but all are welcome. We play at many local events and bandstand jobs, and practice on Tuesday evenings just off Junction 13 of the M5.
