Hepworth Band perform in Huddersfield Town Hall

Countdown to Christmas Concert with Hepworth Band


Hepworth Band along with the Huddersfield Choral Society Youth Choir and Young Voices were invited to perform in the Huddersfield Town Hall, Countdown to Christmas concert in aid of Kirkwood Hospice on Sat 7 Dec 02

The evening commenced by the choir singing Once in Royal David's City this was followed by the band playing the March of the Three Kings by Bizet. The Youth Choir then sang Gaudete followed by The Infant King. The bands principle cornet player Mark Rogers and assistance principle James Chisolm were featured with the band in Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring by Bach arr Bentham.

The band, choirs and the audience then joined in the carol O Come all ye Faithful arr Wilcox.

Rimskykorsakov's exiting Dance of the Tumblers from the Snow Maiden was the bands next item. The first half of the concert finished with And So Goodbye from Millennium Tales by Chilcott.

The march from The Nutcracker Suite, by Tchaikovsky opened the second half of the concert and was followed by the Young Voices choir singing Reach for the Stars by S Club Seven.

The bands flugel horn player Catherine Booth then gave a most moving performance of Beneath the Willows by Harper.

The Youth Choir sang the carols Rocking and Patapan, this was followed by the band playing the Philip Sparke's arrangement of the Snowman narrated by Emma Walsh the bands tenor horn player.

After two more items by the Young Voices, If children ruled the World and Vaults of Heaven from Whistle Down the Wind, Leroy Anderson's arrangement of Christmas Festival Selection was performed by the band.

The band , choirs and audience again joined forces to sing Winter Wonderland and Hark the Herald Angels Sing and the concert ended with the choir singing We wish you a merry Christmas.

A capacity audience of over 1000 enjoyed a truly wonderul concert in aid of a very worthy cause and really made it a stunning Countdown to Christmas.
